Need Help: Doctor suggested something, but I’m afraid the animals at my workplace will be uncomfortable?

I was recentely diagnosed with asthma. I also work at the zoo, cleaning pens, playing with small animals, husbandry, etc. My doctor told me to keep a bandana over my mouth and nose while I worked. However, the animals are already very comfortable with me, and I’m afraid this sudden change might make them uncomfortable. Will it? What other options might I have, not including quitting my job? I’m also posting this in Zoology.

I’m a zookeeper, and I suffer from mild asthma.
As some others have said, I take an antihistamine tablet every morning, which seems to help.
I have also worked with the animals while wearing a white dust mask, and it doesn’t seem to bother them. They seem to look at you a bit strangely to start with, but otherwise they behave normally.
Give it a try. I’m sure you’ll find that the animals will still like you (you may get funny looks from the general public, though!)
